teachers who complain about grading work

image

Oh yeah because it’s just so much fun working your way through a stack of 30 books every night, reading the same stuff over and over again and trying to decide if the students have given sufficient answers to the questions.

And thinking of constructive criticism to help them improve.

And trying to work out to whom all those un-named loose sheets belong to that kids just leave lying around.

Yeah I bet you could do that in 10 minutes.

Yeah. Shut up.

Nothing pisses me off more than students who think they’ve got a tough ride in school when we’re trying to teach them things they will require in the real world. School DOES prepare you for real life.

Listen up, guys. There have already been posts about how school DOES teach you things about the “real world” even if you aren’t directly using the quadratic equation or writing a 5 paragraph essay. But: being disrespectful to your teachers is really, really stupid. They work very hard, and get very little recognition (in general as well as monetarily). Of course there are some bad teachers out there, just like there are bad lawyers, doctors, police officers, and whatever other profession you could name.

But most teachers are working their asses off and get treated like they’re idiots or even not worthy of basic respect from students who don’t want to be there, by their own admission often turn in half-assed or shitty work, and then mock the idea that maybe grading that work is unpleasant. Wow! Fun!

#YOU KIDS NEED TO GET OFF MY LAWN

I can not stand when people villify and mock my career. My home country’s media is terrible for that. It seriously makes me want to Hulk-rage out
