LOSE. YOUR. MIND.
A moment of silence for those in the Southern Hemisphere
I’m fairly certain that people living in the Southern Hemisphere who observe Christmas do not associate it with all the winter shit that people in the Northern Hemisphere do, but instead associate it with the summer. Like barbecues and picnics and beach holidays. I am almost certain that Australian Santa Claus is a surfer or at least has been illustrated as such in the past.
My Australian friend told me that sometimes he sees winter-esque advertisements and finds them really strange. They’re probably imported over from the Northern Hemisphere and just used as is.
We get all the Winter/white Christmas iconography here in NZ as well. There is a steady move towards it being more Summer-based, but it’s still super traditional with the images used.
THE ANTICIPATION FOR THIS WAS UNREAL.
